The visual needs of people ages 60 and up are different from any other age group. This population is more prone to developing the following conditions:
Some of these conditions do not produce any symptoms until the disease is fairly advanced. Worse yet, some of them lead to irreversible blindness. Therefore, seniors should have their eyes examined at least yearly, and more often if they experience any symptoms.
At Precision Eye Care, we understand that there are usually more medical issues with seniors than there are with younger adults. We schedule extra time to discuss your medical history as many medical conditions and medications can affect your ocular health and vision. We know that cataracts and other ocular conditions can make it difficult to judge whether choice “1 or 2” is more clear, so we slow down the process or show you bigger differences in prescription choices so that you can be more confident of your choices. We do a thorough evaluation of the external and internal parts of your eyes. Then we educate you on your conditions and options. If you need a surgical referral, our office contacts the surgeon’s office on your behalf to make the appointment and make sure they have everything they need to help you. It’s one of the many ways we show we care.
