Here's What You Can Do to Protect Yourself
- Find out what causes your allergy and try to avoid the trigger.
- Switch to daily disposable contact lenses so any allergens are discarded at the end of each day.
- Think twice before taking oral allergy pills - they exacerbate dryness.
- Use preservative-free artificial tears to improve dryness.
- Use prescription anti-histamine eye drops.
- Take showers at night to wash away allergens that would otherwise sit on your pillow.
- Turn off your ceiling fan so it doesn't blow dust into your eyes and dry them out.
- Apply a cool compress to your eyes, to reduce swelling
