Our clinic provides eye exams and vision evaluations for patients with a range of physical, developmental and behavioral differences, including ADHD, autism, and Down’s syndrome.

Our exams are designed to meet the unique needs of these patients. We modify our approach to keep our special needs patients as comfortable as possible while delivering eye care as accurately and efficiently as possible.  It is important to us that they have a great experience while in our office.  Please allow more time for this type of exam.

What type of ocular complications do these populations tend to have?

These populations are more likely to have:

• Strabismus (eye turn)
• Amblyopia (lazy eye)
• High refractive error
• Anisometropia (uneven prescription)
• Nystagmus

It’s even more important to have these groups’ eyes examined because they can’t necessarily tell you that there’s a problem and they are much more likely to have ocular conditions compared to their peers.
